Top 5 Samsung Galaxy S6 Features

Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone was recently announced, touting a bevy of new features that will likely make the Samsung Galaxy S6 at least as successful as it’s predecessor. DailyAppShow has taken the time to drive through all the marketing mumbo jumbo to find the top five features of the Galaxy S6.

The latest Samsung Galaxy S phone actually comes in two flavors: the S6 and the S6 Edge. While otherwise identical, the Galaxy S6 Edge features a unique new feature: both long edges of the display curve back towards the rear of the phone that almost makes the screen look seamless, and makes gestures on screen edges much more smooth. Samsung has even provided novel ways to utilize the curved edges, letting you set screen edge gestures to navigate in apps.

Both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge feature a hugely improved industrial design from previous generations of the series. Samsung’s latest flagships use ultra strong Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on both the front and back to provide a more premium feel to the devices. Both phones also utilize anodized metal frames to hold all that glass for a fit and finish unlike any Galaxy S device before.

Improved Fingerprint Reader

While the previous generation Galaxy S5 introduced a built-in fingerprint reader into the home button, many users were unable to reliably use the feature. The Galaxy S6 improves massively on fingerprint reading by using a one-touch reader as opposed to the swipe reader on the S5. Now you can simply rest your finger on the button for recognition to enable biometric security features.

Improved cameras

You will find a much improved 16 MP image sensor at the back of the S6 and S6 Edge that features improvements like optical image stabilization, a wide ƒ/1.9 aperture, auto-HDR mode, improved low light performance, and a feature Samsung is touting as “fast tracking autofocus,” which enables you to tap on your subject, and the camera will keep that object in focus even if it’s moving.

The front facing camera was also improved to 5 MP from 3.7 MP of the previous generation.

Unlike the megapixel war in consumer cameras, the screen resolution war in smartphones is still in full effect. The latest crop of smartphones brings the game to yet another level, featuring an absolutely insane 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. The latest Samsung flagship is no exception, featuring a 1440p AMOLED screen. That’s an incredibly 3.68 million pixels stuffed into a mere 5.1 diagonal inches. This amount of pixels ensures anything you look at on this phone, from photos and video, to text and games, will look stunningly sharp.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is set to be available at retailers in April.
