Listening to music on your iPhone is not limited to the built in Music app, and there are quite a few apps that provide additional functionality on top of what you get out of the box. DailyAppShow has rounded up the top five apps for playing music on your iPhone. Check them out:
Groove

Groove provides a sleek interface that uses music on your device to create mixes based what you like and what mood you’re in. Groove even has a super simple way to start rocking out, with a “choose for me” option as soon as you launch the app. Included are options to sort in various and useful ways like Heavy Rotation for your most listened-to music, favorites, just added, and all the usual ways to sort, such as by artist, album, song, or playlist.
Listen

Listen is an app with a whole new take on the traditional layout of a music app that uses intuitive gesture-based controls and flowing visuals for a whole new app experience. When playing music with Listen, the interface essentially boils down to the play/pause button that you use for all of your playback controls and navigation. Tap to play/pause, swipe right and left to skip forward and back, and move it up and down to access even more settings like shuffle, and returning to the browser. You can even use two fingers to swipe up and down for volume, and left and right for scrubbing through the track.
Cloud Player

Unlike the previous apps, Cloud Player does not try to deviate significantly from the look of the default Music app. What Cloud Player does do differently on the other hand, is incredibly useful. As you might surmise from the name, Cloud Player enables you to access and play music from your cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive. You get all of the music on your cloud services (or whatever you choose) in a streamlined an familiar interface, with tabs for playlists, albums, artists, and the now playing screen. AndCloud Player streams your music directly instead of taking valuable space on your device.
Beat

You won’t find any crazy automated playlist creation or DJ-style playback options in Beat, but you will find an easy to use music app with a few intuitive controls and a stunning visual experience. Navigation through your music library in Beat consists of swiping between five lists: Playlists, Artists, Songs, and Albums. Each list is searchable, with a clean layout and gorgeous animations. The playback screen is just as beautiful and includes a few gestures: double tap anywhere for play/pause, swipe back and forth for skips, swipe up and down for volume control, and tap and hold to access scrubbing.
Pocket Tube

Pocket Tube solves a problem we so often face when we’re with friends: finding and playing that one certain track that you want to share. The first place people turn to when looking for a song is often YouTube, which is a great resource that many artists have turned to for added discoverability. The issues with using YouTube to play songs are many: video is more difficult to stream reliably, and you have to keep the screen on in order for the song to keep playing. Pocket Tube combines the usability of a music app with the discoverability of YouTube for a better experience on your iPhone. Add songs, albums, and artists you like that are available on YouTube, and stream audio directly from videos without interruption and without having to keep it up on your screen using Pocket Tube.
