With touchscreens, gyroscopes, and a pocket-friendly form factor, iPhones are the perfect device to get a quick fix for your gaming itch. And what better way to scratch that itch than to barrel around the virtual racetrack? DailyAppShow has rounded up the top five free racing games for the iPhone. Check them out:
Real Racing

Real Racing 3 is the latest, and by far most beautiful, addition to the series of games from Firemonkeys. This game makes the absolute most of your iPhone’s hardware to bring you the most realistic racing game on mobile. Even though this game runs on iPhones, Real Racing 3 gives big name franchises like Forza and Need for Speed a run for their money in terms of both stunning visuals and solid, realistic gameplay. The game features some of the most famous racetracks on the planet and dozens of officially licensed cars, from Mazda to McLaren.
Smash Bandits

Smash Bandits is a top-down racer where you’re racing from the cops and trying to crash into everything possible without wrecking your car or being pinned down by cruisers. The unique controls may seem weird –you steer your car by swinging it from behind– but you’ll quickly find it intuitive and it gets your finger out of the way from blocking the visually gorgeous gameplay. As you amass points (by destroying objects and lasting a long time before you’re stopped) you buy and upgrade new and better vehicles.
Asphalt Overdrive

Asphalt has made a name for itself as the top arcade racer on the App Store. Asphalt Overdrive is a departure from the series, as the game plays more like a hybrid between an arcade racer and and runner games like Temple Run. You progress through the game by evading the authorities while performing takedowns, stunts and collecting powerups as you race through multiple gorgeous locales in order to gain money so that you can purchase new cars, upgrades, and boosts.
CSR Racing

CSR Racing is a different take on racing games, with the focus on drag racing, perfect shifting, and a storyline heavy gameplay. Like most racing games, you start from the very bottom, racing your budget against local drag racing gangs car to gain notoriety and prestige in order to gain rank, better cars, and more money.
Angry Birds Go!

Rovio is at it again, with the Angry Avians we all know and love being thrust into a whole new ballgame (or should we say birdgame?). Angry Birds Go! takes on the kart racing genre to great effect. All the pieces are here, from intuitive and responsive controls, to customizable vehicles, to fast-paced free-for-all racing.
