The Night Before Christmas – A great yuletide story for young children

This classic and magical Christmas poem was first published in 1823 and is also known as “A visit from Saint Nicholas” – it is commonly accepted that Clement Clarke Moore wrote this lovely poem that has inspired generations of children.

Even today it has had a huge impact on how we perceive Christmas with the image of Saint Nicholas (also known as Father Christmas or Santa Claus) on a sleigh, being pulled by eight reindeer who visits children in the night while they are fast asleep and leaving them presents.

The “Read to me” mode does exactly what it says (pun not intended) and lets your child enjoy this wonderful Yuletide poem. They’ll just love saying the names of the eight reindeer out aloud.

The words of the poem scroll across the bottom of the screen with the current word highlighted as it is read and the poem can be paused and resumed at any time.

The “I’ll read” mode lets your child read the poem at their own pace. As they read the poem for themselves they just touch the word as it is read – the illustrations will change but they will not be fully animated in order that there is no visual distraction while they read.
