Styx is a hot new arcade-puzzle game with a new super-easy gameplay mechanic and non stop arcade puzzle action. Styx is a fun addictive puzzle game. On the main menu after starting the app you will see the main screen which is a list of icons that include Start, Hall of Fame, Profiles, Options, and Help.
If you touch the start icon it will bring you to a screen that gives you 2 game play options. You can do Paths which is the normal game play mode or you can do Time Trial which is a race against the clock to see how many points you can get. At the bottom of the screen you can select the tile set you would like to use. When you select Paths it will bring you to a screen where you can pick the difficulty there are 3 difficulty’s Easy, Normal, and Hard. Select your difficulty and then the game starts. At the top of the game play screen you have points, level, timer, and a bar that shows you how close you are to moving on the the next level. The goal of the game is to try and make the longest paths of tiles which will give you more points. To make a path you simple touch one of the tiles and then drag your finger across the screen on the same style tiles. Then you pull your finger off the screen and it will add it to your score. There are bonus items that pop up too. There is also 29 goal medals you can earn.
If you go back to the main screen below Start icon is the Hall of fame icon. If you select this it will bring your to the high scores. There are 3 high scores menus. There is one for each difficulty and one for Timetrial. At the bottom of the screen you can pull up world scores and it will pull the high scores from online. Also at the bottom there is a submit icon witch if you select this it will upload all your high scores to the web.
Below Hall of Fame icon is Profiles icon. When you select this it will bring up your profile and give you your game stats. It also has a list of the 29 medals you can earn and shows you which ones you have received. Great place to come to see what you need to accomplish for your next medal. In this screen you can also add profiles and select what profile is active if you have multiple people playing the game on the iPhone/Ipod Touch.
Bellow Profiles there is the Options icon. Here you can select the volume of the sound effects and music. One thing I really like about this app is you can play music on the iPod then open the app and it will use the music you were listening to as the background music. I wish they could integrate the iPod feature so you can control it without leaving the app. One good thing that they did include though is the save feature which automatically saves your game if you hit the home button to go switch up your music.
Bellow the Options icon there is the help Icon. When you select this it will bring up a screen which goes into detail of how to play and all the features of the game.
Also there is a M icon at the top right corner no matter what screen you are on that will take you back to the main screen.
Personally I am addicted and have played this game a couple times a day since I downloaded it. So if you are looking for a great game for your iPhone/iPod Touch then download Styx for $2.99.
