How to Use Quick Settings on the Nexus 6

There’s more to the notification drawer than just notifications. In fact, you can control a lot of the most commonly changed settings from anywhere on your phone! Lets go over how to find and use quick settings in in the notification drawer of your Nexus 6:

  • Open the notification drawer by swiping down on the status bar at the top of the screen.
  • This opens the notification drawer, from here, swipe down again to reveal the Quick Settings section.

    • Tap on most toggles to turn them on or off.
    • Drag the slider next to the sun icon to change the brightness of your screen.
    • Tap the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth icons to turn connectivity on or off. Tap the arrow by the toggle name to view and connect to available networks or devices.
    • Tap the Cellular Data toggle to turn off your phone’s ability to use cellular network data. This is useful if your mobile plan has a limit on your data usage.
    • Tap the Airplane mode quickly turn off all wireless networks modes (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, cellular).
    • The Auto-rotate toggles your phone’s screen rotating based on orientation for apps that support rotation.
    • Tap the Flashlight toggle to turn on your camera’s LED flash bulb to use as a convenient flashlight.
    • The Location toggle turns GPS and cellular positioning on or off. Navigation and location-based apps use this to determine where the phone is physically located.
    • Finally, the Cast screen toggle lets you select a Chrome Cast receiver to mirror your phone’s screen to.
  • Tap the Gear icon at the top left to jump to the Settings app.
  • Swipe up to dismiss the Quick Settings panel.
