Android Beam is a feature that allows any two NFC-enabled devices running Android 4.0 to simply hold the two devices together and share whatever is on the screen. What gets shared is dependent on whatever is currently being viewed: if you are viewing a downloaded photo, video, or audio, those will be sent, or Android will attempt to find other media using one of Google’s Play services or the Play Store for apps. Here’s how to use Android Beam on your Nexus 6 to share files and other media:
Navigate to the media, screen, or app you want to share on your Nexus 6.
- Make sure the device you are sharing to is unlocked.
- When you’re ready, hold the backs of the two devices together.
- You will feel both devices vibrate once they connect. Both screens will show a flying-through-space background.
- On the device you want to share from, tap on the screen.
- You might have to readjust the devices at this point to confirm the NFC connection, saying “Bring devices together again.”
- The other device will begin downloading the media, or navigate to the appropriate Play page.
- The other device will receive a notification when the download is done, and now has access to use the media.
- Repeat the process in either direction for whatever files, media, or apps you wish to share.
