Having your phone buzz in your pocket or on your bedside table from all the calls, messages, and app notifications can be one of the most annoying parts of having a smartphone. Luckily, the HTC One M9 provides settings to conditionally block interruptions, as well as a feature called Downtime. Here’s how to configure interruptions and the Downtime feature:
In the Settings app, open the Sound & Notification menu in the Phone section.
- Open the Interruptions menu in the General section.
- The first option gives you a choice for when calls and notifications arrive. You can choose between Always interrupt, Allow only priority interruptions (we’ll set which interruptions are considered priority in a moment), and Don’t interrupt. When picking the last two, you’ll then be prompted to select a time limit. You are given a number of time limits, as well as an option for indefinite blocking.
- The next section lets us set which interruptions are considered priorities. We can choose to turn on or off events and reminders, calls, and messages. Then we can choose to filter certain calls and messages from anyone, favorites, or contacts only. Notifications for specific apps can be individually set as priority as well. Check out our How to Manage Notifications on HTC One M9 article on how to configure app-specific priority
- Finally, we can configure downtime. This section lets us set specific times of the day and week when our device only receives priority notifications (as set in the previous section). Choose which days of the week downtime is turned on, then when downtime starts and ends each day.
