Having your phone buzz in your pocket or on your bedside table from all the calls, messages, and app notifications can be one of the most annoying parts of having a smartphone. Luckily, the Nexus 6 provides a set of features to help curb the (sometimes constant) stream of distractions flowing from your device. Here’s how to avoid intrusive interruptions on your Nexus 6:
- In the Settings app, open the Sound & notification menu.
- Tap on the Interruptions menu.
- Here, you can customize what calls and notifications you receive and when.
- The first menu, we select When calls and notifications arrive from three options:
- Always interrupt
- Allow only priority interruptions
- Don’t interrupt.
- Next, we can select what kind of interruptions are considered Priority. We can individually toggle Events and reminders, Calls, and Messages.
- If Calls are selected as a priority notification, we can then select calls from which contacts are considered priority. Calls from: Anyone, Starred contacts only, or Contacts only.
- Next, we can customize our Downtime. Downtime is a specified part of the day where we can choose to receive no notifications or priority notifications only.
- Tap on Days to select the days of the week that Downtime is active.
- Start time sets when Downtime will begin.
- End time sets when Downtime will end.
- Lastly, we can select the Interruptions allowed: Priority only, or None.
