Bonza

At first glance, Bonza shares a striking resemblance to the classic crossword puzzle. Fortunately for you, Bonza is not nearly so difficult, nor does it rely as much on knowledge of obscure words and their spellings. In Bonza, you are given a field of squares, as well as your puzzle pieces. These pieces consist of tetris-like shapes with a letter in each square, and you combine these pieces to construct a set of related words. Each puzzle has a theme on which the words used are based, and you are tasked with figuring those words out. Winning a puzzle rewards coins that unlocks new levels and the ability to purchase hints when you need some help.

TwoDots

TwoDots is the followup game to the wildly popular game Dots. TwoDots expands on the simple gameplay of Dots for a level-based game that introduces new features and gameplay. The game is regularly updated with new levels, music, and mechanics to keep you entertained for hours…a few minutes at a time. TwoDots is a very approachable game, and each level can be conquered just a few minutes.

1010!

1010! can best be described as Tetris at your own pace and with some unique challenges. You are presented with a ten-by-ten grid of squares where you place Tetris-like pieces that comprise of anywhere between 1 and 9 square blocks. You are given three of these blocks at a time to place on the grid, and all three need to be put on the board before you are given three more. Here’s where the challenge begins; when you place enough blocks to stretch entirely across the board either horizontally or vertically, that row or column is then cleared from the board. The more lines you clear, the more points you get. However, strategy is involved as you more further along, as it’s easy for straggler blocks to be scattered all over, leaving less and less room to place new blocks. As soon as you can’t place all your blocks, game over.

Blek

Blek is a game where your doodles take on a life of their own. The way this game works might be a bit difficult to explain in words, but I”ll give it a go: The objective of Blek is to touch all the colored circles using what I’ll call gestures. Each swipe, swoop, and touch on your screen creates a drawing that will continue even after you take your finger off the screen, and will exactly mimic whatever you drew. So if you draw a line, the line will continue in the direction you drew it, if you zigzag, it’ll keep zigzag-ing until it disappears off the top or bottom of the screen (the sides are bouncy, and gestures will head right back towards the middle). You use these gestures to touch every colored circle on the board, in order to move on, and each new level brings with it more complexity and challenge. Blek is a fascinating game with delightfully original gameplay that requires ingenuity and dexterity.

Lettercraft

Lettercraft takes some challenge out of the classic Boggle-style word search game…and then adds a whole new one. Like many word search games, you construct valid words using a grid of letters, but Lettercraft adds a unique time-based twist: letters will begin to burn away and become unusable if you don’t use them, forcing you to get creative with your word finds. In addition, each new level has a different word based challenge as well: for instance, level 1 requires every word include the letter ‘A’. And of course these challenges get tougher as you move up in the game. Lettercraft demands both a keen memory for words and the ability to work well under pressure – which Lettercraft has in droves.
