I’ll preface this review by saying that even after an hour of tinkering on this application I still have no idea how to use it. I haven’t even gotten to the point where I can add two numbers together, which means that this app is either way over my head or I should have actually gone to my math classes in college.
That being said, I have enough knowledge of mathematics to notice that if I did know what I was doing, this app would be extremely useful. It allows you to use this unique style of notation to perform a variety of trigonometric functions and mathematical formulas that are far more complicated that what the iPhone’s standard calculator can handle. I could see people who deal with mathematics for either their jobs or school finding this app to be useful, especially considering it’s $5.99 price tag is substantially lower than a traditional RPN Calculator.
Overall, while the layout and functionality baffles me, the Big Stacks RPN Calculator is a great example of how the iPhone can cater to a very specific niche.
