Ascraeus is advertised as being “part memory game, part twitch-arcade game and part fantasy voyage through an extra dimensional audio dreamscape,” and that’s about right on the money. The game is simple – sci-fi music plays in the background as you try to tap glowing circles that move around a starry background in order to prevent them from exploding. The more you tap, the further the glowing balls get from exploding. The more you miss, and, well, the more likely they are to explode.
Ascraeus is one of those games that succeeds in its simplicity. Its straightforward game play starts out easy enough, and before you know it, it’s gotten progressively harder and you’ve been playing for an hour. And at $1.99, it’s a pretty cheap way to waste a couple of hours tapping your screen.
