Is Angry Birds Still Popular?

Angry Birds, the world’s best game available for the iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Android devices, Window’s phone as well as available as a Chrome extension. But is it still? Could we consider it the Pac Man of today?

With 8 different versions of the game, a cartoon, <a href=”http://goo.gl/jOct2 target=”_blank”>an Angry Birds movie in the making and practically their own gift shop, Angry Birds may never cease to exist as a game or a general ‘thing’ on this earth.

Take a look at all of the variations of the Angry Birds game and what platform they are available for.

Taking a look at the top lists of the platforms that Angry Birds is on we can track on a general scope what their success looks like. On the iTunes App Store for the iPhone #4 most paid for app is Angry Birds Star Wars II. The App Store for the iPad ranks Angry Birds Star Wars II at #5 as well. The Google Play store lists Angry Birds (the original) as #12 in their Top Free Games Section. Number 13 on the top paid for Android app goes to Angry Birds Star Wars II and #12 on to free apps for Android goes to the original Angry Birds game.

Is the game as large as it once was? I think not, but the brand of Angry Birds I believe will continue on. Supermarkets carry the board game, media stores carry the shows and the variations of the game will continue to come because the concept is fun, simple and entertaining.

The image on this post is from IFC’s Portlandia featuring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. This particular episode is a spoof of their store strictly placing ‘birds’ on items to make them sell. Now looking at the business world, we have to wonder…
